Dollish Polish Toxic Avenger

On to more Honeymoon mani's..... I need to find some time for daily posting to get these out of the way before I have to show you my Christmas polishes....... I will, I promise!

So, when planning my honeymoon nail wardrobe I thought I'd take a few of my 'special' polishes away, I mean really it was my honeymoon, doesn't get more special than that! Now when I say special I mean the really special ones that you tend not to ever wear for fear of running out! As part of those I picked out Dollish Polish Toxic Avenger.

To me Dollish Polish Toxic Avenger was one of those mythical polishes I didn't even dare put on my wishist becuase I knew I'd never own it so I didn't want to feel sad that it sat there on my wishlist with no chance of ever being ticked off. I haven't even seen any being sold or auctioned for quite a while so I just put it out of my mind. Then one day I was at work, quickly looked at my phone and a fellow polishaholic had put it up for swap. I can't tell you how quickly my fingers flew to message her.... I actually had something she wanted to swap for and the rest is history. I didn't even believe I'd get it until it was in my hands, I'd have been more than happy for a mini but this baby was full size!!!!!!! The polish Gods were shining on me that day.

Anyway, I've thought about posting this because I know some people don't like to see things they may never be able to get (personally I do and don't like to be teased - nothing is impossible right??), but I wanted to post it because it's part of my honeymoon and also just to say never give up hope. I swapped a Lynnderella (not even a LE one) for this and I added a whole bunch of other goodies in, not even at my swap partners request. We were both happy with our swap and got things we wanted. So..... you may just get very very lucky.

Anyway, on to the gloriousness that is Dollish Polish Toxic Avenger. This is what Dolly has to say herself about it:

"Toxic Avenger" an 80's horror/hero cult classic. Poor nerdy Melvin, mutated after falling into a vat of nuclear waste, becomes the local mutant super hero. This amazing multi-chrome polish flashes from Grey, to Purple to Olive Green, with an intense Spectraflair pigment, most commonly known as holographic pigment which bursts into a rainbow of colors when the light catches it. Don't let this creepy little mutant scare you off. This color is one of the most unique and beautiful polishes I've made to date"

What do I say about it?? IT IS BEAUTIFUL and it's everything I hoped it would be.

For these pictures I wore it on it's own with 2 coats. Next time I'm layering it over black so i can preserve it. I can't tell you how happy I was when I saw my suitcase come round that carousel nd I knew my babies were safe..

Here it is in all it's holographic goodness:

It is even beautiful in the shade too:

Can you see the multi-chrome?

This was inside in the evening - this photo reminds me of that lovely time when you walk out for dinner into the warmth and are headed for nothing but relaxation, a pina colada, and some good food with great company.

In all it's splendour:

Pure perfection!

Honeymoon Holo Gradient

I'm sorry I've been MIA for the last week. Time has just passed me by and I don't really know what happened!

You know, before our wedding and while I was away on honeymoon I kind of stopped looking at all my facebook groups and polish because I was just a bit overwhelmed with everything anf I needed to concentrate and keep my head clear, but now I'm back and so is the obsession. I am just so loving it all right now I can't tell you! Have you ever woken up in the night to check your phone for new posts?? Nuts eh?!

Anyway, I broke a nail on Tuesday, badly, so it's nubs for me, which I hate. They don't even look like my fingers, so while I'm sulking I thought I'd finally get around to posting some of my honeymoon mani's. This one I did using Kiko 399 Silk Taupe as a base and then sponged Up Colors Multi Magenta and Kiko 401 Peacock Green. I just used a sponge over the Kiko 399 base and I I really liked the results.

As in the UK we are starved of sunshine right now I thought I'd leave this one largely uncropped. Look how beautiful it is. We went to Mauritius and stayed in the Oberoi, all I can say is WOW - they are an Indian hotel chain and if you ever get the chance to stay in one then do.

Anyway, hope you likey!

And here is just a glimpse of where we stayed. It really was paradise!

OPI Casino Royale and Lynnderella Shape Shifter

This post features what are probably my 2 favourite brand of polish,: OPI and Lynnderella.

I've been itching to wear some of the new Skyfall colours, the collection has some really gorgeous cremes which are really a staple for me but I tend to find they can be a bit boring so what better way to jazz them up then some glitter. Some Lynnderella glitter!

For this mani I used 2 coats of OPI Casino Royale and then 2 coats of Lynnderella Shapeshifter as an accent nail. I love the combination of dark creme and sparkly holographic silver. So pretty! The only disappointment was that my Shape Shifter didn't have many shapes. I got mine from Llarowe back when she started selling Lynns so I don't really know what happened with the formulation there, oh well I guess it's a good excuse to get one of the new formulation Shape Shifters!

Have you seen Lynn's new holiday collection? I'm making my list and checking it twice!!

I decided that one finger really wasn't enough bling so.......

Where are the shapes?

OPI Fall mani - finally some stamping!!

It's been a while since I've done any stamping and I have to admit that these were taken at least a month ago, but I really wasn't ready for autumn yet. Here where I live now the leaves are dropping off the trees and the colours are glorious, really it is pretty but we are having the Christmas lights switch on in my town and I can't help feel a little behind, I just haven't caught up yet. Mind you when my Christmas polishes start arriving (soon!), I'm sure that will put me in the mood.

I did this mani with 2 coats of OPI Schnapps Out Of It from the Germany collection and 2 coats of OPI Coral Reef which I got in an awesome swap with my lovely friend El. Coral Reef is an beautiful coral holo but I just didn't have the lighting to capture the holoness of it. I'll be wearing it again for sure.

To make it autumny I stamped over it with some lovely foils and Red Angel plate 118. These pictures were taken with my old camera and already I can see such a difference!

Emily De Molly Happily Ever After

I really do have some awesome polish friends, and in particular an awesome birthday group. This polish came in a package from my lovely friend Nicole in Australia, it was one of 3 Emily De Molly polishes as a gift for my wedding.

They are my first Emily De Molly's and they are custom made for me. How awesome is that! The first one I had to wear is Happily Ever After. This is a turquoise jelly with lots of green and blue hex glitters and small blue and green glitters.

I'm going to let the pictures do the talking here because it's just SO beautiful! This is one of the most beautiful polishes I own and the sentiment behind it just so special.

I can't wait to show you the others 2!

Thank you Nicole. x

Nerdlacquer Data Squirrel

When I woke up on Friday I woke up to the news that Amanda from Nerdlaquer was back! I immediately 'ran' over to Google + to read her posting.......and then I cried.

You see, as you probably know if you read my blog, my mum passed away from breast cancer 3 years ago. I know what it is like and it would take all day and several boxes of tissues to describe the utter pain and desperation of losing someone you love so much.

I have been thinking about about this all weekend and how I would write this post. I've read comments on facebook groups which angered me to the extreme but most of the comments made me take heart that there is so much sympathy, understanding and support for someone who has clearly had such a traumatic event.

I didn't manage to get any 'Nerds' before Amanda left but I have been lucky to aquire 2 since then. Today I am wearing my untried Nerd, Data Squirrel. Nerdlacquers are incredibly complex polishes and I can see why everyone went nuts for them.

Data Squirrel is a kind of browny rust coloured polish with a shimmer, it also includes red green and silver hex glitters and tiny red glitters. I wore it all weekend and I love it.

I really wish Amanda all the very best and hope that she will, in time find some peace and comfort. So glad she is back and I hope she gets the time and support she needs.

I cannot wait to see the collection she brings out to commemorate her mom. What a very special collection that will be.

No H8 - Crows Toes Cheshire and Catrice Heavy Metallic

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

For this mani I started off with 2 coats of Catrice Heavy Metallic topped with a glitter gradient with the gorgeous Crows Toes Cheshire. I chose these polishes because they represent 2 things that make me happy - the Catrice came from a dear friend in my birthday club group and Cheshire, well that's the cat so what's not to love. The are both beautiful polishes although the Catrice was very apt for this mani as it had the biggest brush I have ever seen in my life so I had a lot of cleaning up to do!!

Next time I'm wearing Cheshire over a dark purple or black or maybe even a bright turquoise.

And just to remind ourselves of how far we've come here is a comparison picture of one of the first mani's I took photo's of and one I blogged the other week. I think I've progressed!

This is such a lovely hobby and I have met so many lovely people and made great friends, let's be kind to eachother. x

Avon Lucky Penny Fall Mani

I just haven't had time to post all of my mani's lately and I've been feeling very autumnal, even though it feels more like winter here!

Today I have the mani I wore on halloween - what is more reminicent of halloween than orange, yellow and white? I was lucky to receive an awesome franken as a gift from one of my birthday girls Ashley at One Nail to Another. Sweets n' Treats has small white, yellow and orange hex glitters with larger square white glitters in a clear base. It is pure halloween!

I decided to use an Avon Polish I got recently as a base. This one is Avon Lucky Penny and it is a really perfect orange foil metallic polish. It is from their Nailwear Pro + range which is supposed to be a long wear polish. This applied really well and was pretty much opaque in one coat. To be honest I don't think I'll use it as a polish but I will try it for stamping, I would be suprised if it wasn't perfect for that purpose and I've been looking for a dense orange stamping poloish for a while - I'll keep you updated.

I used 2 coats of Sweets N' Treats over the top of 2 coats of Lucky Penny. I wore this mani for 3 days so you can see a little tipwear in the photos but I think it did last well.

I can't wait to show you what I have next!

Dollish Polish Zombie Flesh

I know halloween is well and truly over but I do have 2 mani's I wore over the season that I want to show you.

The first one is Dollish Polish Zombie Flesh. I was lucky enough to get this polish one day when Dolly opened her Big Cartel store. It was my first ever Dollish purchase so I grabbed up what I could and this was one of them.

Zombie Flesh is a gorgeous khaki olive green cream with small black glitter and micro silver and green glitters. They all show up on the nail as you can see and the formula on this polish was fabulous. This mani was 3 coats but I could have probably got away with 2.

To be honest I wasn't sure how this would look on me but it was fabulous, I am quite pale and this was a really beautiful and classy colour. I added 1 coat of topcoat and it was completely smooth and glossy.

Don't you just LOVE Dollish Polish!
